A dark, stronger tasting honey from Rewarewa flowers. Found in the native bush, Rewarewa is also known as New Zealand honeysuckle. The elegant Rewarewa tree stands tall and high above other NZ trees in native bush. Their unusual cylindar shaped flowers only blossum for a short period of time which makes this honey very special. During the late spring and early New Zealand summer (November-December) the tree is covered in masses of beautiful, delicate, red flowers ready to release their nectar.
Rewarewa is high in hydrogen peroxide which helps in healing and fighting against bacteria.
Use Rewarewa honey daily straight from the jar or add to hot or cold drinks. Use as an alternative to sugar in both savoury and sweet dishes for a healthy culinary delight.
